Selling Vios to Friend

Recommended Posts

I want to sell my vios to a friend in Chiang Mai. I live in Saraburi.

Does he have to come here to get the name in the blue book changed?

Is there any way around this?

Could I keep my name in the blue book and would he be able to get Por Ro Bor in Chiang Mai?

I did a similar exercise (motorbike) recently. It's down to what city name he wants on the numberplate.

In my case the new owner came to our local RT dept but they had to contact the office where the plate was issued. 2nd visit, they wanted old plate for new one (they didn't mention that at 1st visit so a 3rd visit was necessary.

With that in mind, I'd suggest you both meet wherever the car has been registered then it can all be done in a day.

Thanks, still a bit confused as never bought a 2nd hand car.

Can I transfer to him if he is only on a tourist visa?

He will need a residency cert from immigration to do the transfer. Some will issue them to people on tourist visa's, some will not.

Or a yellow house book or WP (both unlikely if he 'really is' a tourist.

Visa exempt entries sometimes are an issue for this, but tourist visas hardly ever.
