Gen Thanasak pleased with Vietnam trip

BANGKOK, 20 June 2016 (NNT) - Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Thanasak Patimaprakorn, returning from an official visit to Vietnam, said his trip to Thailand's neighbouring country was a success.

Gen Thanasak said on Sunday that his visit was to mark the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries. He added that Thailand and Vietnam plan to cooperate more closely in many areas and they also look to collaborate with other countries in the region.

Thai Ambassador to Vietnam Manopchai Vongphakdi said both nations have been cooperating on many levels and they have continued to strengthen the already strong ties between them. Mr Manopchai said the Vietnamese economy continues to grow and Thai investors are welcomed to do business there.

In Thailand, every foreign visit is a success, even when nothing is achieved.

I suspect if anything had been achieved this time, it would have been trumpeted very loudly, but it wasn't. Nothing. Nada. except for noting the Vietnamese economy is doing well, which probably stuck in the Thai throats because they think that Thailand is better at everything than poor old Vietnam. snd we all know what's happening with the Thai economy. I can just hear the Vietnamese chortling about that.

Vietnam despises Thailand with a vengeance. Were it not for the veneer of friendship required by ASEAN, I doubt Vietnam would give Thailand the time of day or the time for a meeting at any level. Another country for whom Thailand is now a pariah.

How many DPM have Thailand got, we've got Un-elected DPM Pawtwit and this Un- elected DMP Thanasuk how many more are there , I'm quite sure General Pawtwit would be able to put a better load of B/S on this trip than Unelected DPM Thanasak , Un-elected DMP Pawtwit spiel on anything is practically the total opposite of what actually took place........................................coffee1.gif

Vietnamese officials were probably thankful they have a communist government.

It would have been boring for Vietnamese and embarrassing for the Thai DPM to hear Thanasak spout the traditional assurance that Thailand is advancing on its roadmap to democracy.

Maybe in the near future the Vietnamese and Thailand can follow up with joint military humantarium/rescue exercises. That should thrill Vietnam's neighbor China.

I found five DPM's and two Ministers attached to the PM's Office.

One DPM was replaced last year by Somkid.

There are now 34 people in the PM's cabinet compared to 16 in the USA and 32 in Russia.
