Related bodies told to join forces against human trafficking

BANGKOK, 21 June 2016 (NNT) – The Minister of Social Development and Human Security has instructed all relevant agencies to work together to prevent and clamp down on human trafficking while also establishing collaboration with neighboring countries on the issue.

During the latest meeting with the subcommittee on women’s affairs, Social Development and Human Security Minister Pol Gen Adul Saengsingkaew was informed that significant progress has been made under the action plan to prevent and eliminate the trafficking of women and children. The minister, on this occasion, called on all related units to pool their efforts to enforce the law against human traffickers, protect and rescue victims and expand their work to uproot human trafficking networks.

In the meantime, Pol Gen Adul revealed that Thailand has been coordinating anti-human trafficking operations with its neighboring countries. Thai officials are working with their Lao counterparts to ensure accuracy of information on Lao passports and prevent illegal immigration. As for the collaboration with Cambodia, emphasis is placed on preventive measures against human trafficking and the return of victims to society.

There needs to be a far bigger effort from surrounding countries to combat this problem , Thailand alone cannot do all of it on it's own , it needs the dysfunctional rudderless, leaderless , ASEAN neighbours to pitch in as well...................................................coffee1.gif .

SO all you expat's let your countries know that Thailand got this sorted and can point the finger at those involved. Even though Thailand's hands are clean cause they haven't arrested one Leader of these pieces of human cr-p.

How many western advisors do they have?

Looks like the PM has instructed all hands to the diversion pump.

Serious problems require serious solutions, and the PM is now a serious problem for the Junta.

I suppose this is a feature of government officials everywhere, but in Thailand it is do frequently and prominently on display. That is the tendency of government officials to drape themselves in the robes of Pharaoh, and intone their decrees.

"So let it be written, so let it be done."

I figure this serves several purposes in Thai culture:

1. reinforcing the perception that someone is in charge (do you know who I am?)

2. reinforcing the role of higher level people to issue general orders to lower level people

3. giving the high level official "cover" for otherwise doing very little

And the icing on the cake is the wonderful government mouthpiece known as the national News Bureau of Thailand (NNT), which also serves its cultural role by reinforcing the hierarchy and the infallibility aura of the wise leaders.

For a westerner such as myself, this is funny/creepy stuff.

"...instructed all relevant agencies to work together to prevent and clamp down on human trafficking..."

Seems to me that if there happened to be sincere interest in clamping down, those agencies wouldn't need to be told to work together

Same old. It appears that the only answer is penalties.
