Re-Entry Permit in Don Mueang Int'l Airport

Featured Replies

Can I get a Re-Entry Permit in Don Mueang Int'l Airport ?

If so, where is the office location ?

How long does it take to get the permit ?

Can I get it after check in (few hours before flight) ?

the way I understand it you can get re-entry permits at the international airports but they prefer it if you turn up having obtained one at your local immigration office.

Obviously if it is a short notice departure for say family reasons they will be more sympathetic. but is there any reason you cannot obtain a re-entry permit during normal office hours?

There is no problem getting a re-entry permit at Don Muang airport. You get it just after immigration at the same office that handles overstays. Ensure you have a photo and 1,000 baht for a single re-entry. The process only takes a few minutes.

Now they require two photos: one for the regular form, the other for the intrusive personal questions form.

The desk that deals with reentry permits isn't labelled as such. It's the one closest to the door on the right.

Thanks for the info. To clarify. it's closest to which door on the right?

Sorry. Not clear. Once you go through the door the desk is the first one on the right hand side.

Still not sure which 'door' you mean: main a/p/ doors, door through to security and gates, etc.? Much appreciated!

The office which deals with reentry permits and overstays is directly in front of you once you've gone through passport control at Don Mueang.

Once you've entered the office the desk you need is immediately on your right.

Clearer?

Hi all, Does anyone know for sure what papers, if any, one needs besides the two photos. I was at Immigration at Chaengwattana on Friday but it was so busy it took all day to extend my permission to stay and there wasn't time to get the re-entry permit. They told me I need copies of certain pages of my passport and the relevant form. When I got my last two at Swampy I only needed to bring the money, they did the form and photo there... did not need copies of my passport pages. Thanks for any up date on what is needed. Cheers.

Having a photo for the TM8 is the most important thing. You can do the form there and they can do the passport copies.

What if I am flying domestic to Chiang Rai, then leaving overland ? I obviously will not be going through passport control at Don Mueang. Will I have to trudge out to Chaeng Wattana ?

You can only use airport immigration for a re-entry permit if leaving on an international flight. Probably, getting the re-entry permit at CW is the best option, though you might be able to do it in Chiang Rai.

That's what I thought ....

I 'm going to be in Chiang Rai over the weekend though, so that's not an option either.

I was just looking at the immigration website, and I noticed this:

You could apply a re-entry permit at every checkpoint.

I'm loathe to take that literally though ! So it's out to CW.....

When they write checkpoint they mean offices. If you look at the immigration website you will see checkpoints at the top of the page and will find it is offices.

The only border crossings I am aware of that have re-entry permit desks are Nong Khai, Aranyaprathet and possibley Sadao.

The Re entry Permit section is directly behind the immigration officer who will stamp your passport. Don't forget, you will be stamped out of Thailand before you get your re entry permit. A little unnerving, but it's fine!!
