Story by Albert Jack

PATTAYA: -- At 4am on the morning of June 24 a Pattaya Police checkpoint at Kao Pattaya, Nongprue, were informed of a robbery that happened right in front of them.

Whilst walking past the police patrol a fifty-six year old German man, known only as Jochen, had his bag snatched by a passing motorcycle thief. A forty-year-old motorcycle taxi driver did witness the theft and gave chase but the thief managed to get away.

Yeah, that is about right... Police: "Huh? Something happened?"

So where can you transfer them? It's obvious this police post is "inactive."

OK Meeter, we look for the bad man, sign here, this is standaard contract.

100 baht per hour and 30% of the bag contentswai.gif

And No work when soccaar is on TWee

Well it was 0400 so they must have been run off their feet with other matters.

Posts on social media etc don't write themselves you know !

it was probably a cop that snatched his bag!!!

Yeah, that is about right... Police: "Huh? Something happened?"

Didnt know the police patrol was on motor bikes. Highly unlikely they would have tried a pursuit on foot!!!

Somebody must have been paying off the bribe with a bag full of satangs and they were to busy counting it.

So nice to see the cops taking seriously the announcement (was it last week) that "protecting tourist number one priority". Maybe too busy playing Candy Crush. Or the realization that might be some danger outside police station, so best to stay inside.

either the robber was dumb and desperate so that it did not

matter whether he got caught or not.

or he knew exactly what he was doing and how he could get out of the

situation if caught.

what is puzzling is that how he knew that the victim had something worth

snatching.

if you are not safe near a police checkpoint

then where will you be safe?

What like a bag ? gigglem.gif

They saw it, alright. They all gave the thumbs up, V-signs and salutes while selfiieing.

4am. I imagine they were asleep.

Na Jomtien ? tongue.png

Like I do not walk at 04:00 with a Bag, and of course on the street side of me. What is that ??

Joking aside, I have been reading for a long time about all the crime and even police corruption in Pattaya and Jomtien, even fleecing prisoners and holding passport and fleecing the expat's. But, the only thing I hear about is "Loosing Face" in the Tourist Industry.

Somebody over there needs to start "Walking Tall" and clean that rat nest out.

I come over there, but do not get drunk, walk around at 3 or 4, wear expensive jewelry (Mainly because I do not wear it anyway).

No news here! Police do their best work when called upon to declare a farang death a suicide...cream-puff job...see no evil...hear no evil...but the badge allows the police to do evil...IMHO

...so the victim is guilty for: 1) Walking.......2) Having a bag....... ........what else....reward the thief....???

I never experienced anything like this in my life, and I never walk outside at 4 AM .

...Come on!..give them a break..it's really dark and scary outside those little cosy boxes....bad boys..snakes..prostitutes..all manner of terrible things.

I didn't know Pattaya Police went out after dark.

One more data point.

The wee hours are for sleeping.
