Over 120 Myanmar illegal migrant workers rounded up in Tak

TAK: A combined force of police, soldiers and district officials today raided a densely populated community in a housing estate in Mae Sot municipal area and arrested 128 Myanmar workers for illegal entries.

The raid by authorities from six state agencies came after residents at the Thungthong housing estate complained of a large number of foreign workers staying nearby and making noise pollution that has disturbed their daily lives.

As the combined force encircled the community, panic broke out among the Myanmar workers trying to escape.

However authorities have sealed all exits of the community, and conducted searches of every makeshift and permanent shelter, a total of 128 workers were arrested for having no official documents to show they entered the country legally.

They were all questioned and have their identities recorded before sending to the immigration office in Mae Sot for deportation.

Authorities also said almost all shelters have electricity supply connected to them by a Thai resident.

They will call the Thai resident for questioning and will consider legal action against him.

its odd that there are illegals here from myanmar when loads of Thais are working in Korea illegally? Is this akin to the migrants working in the UK doing jobs that brits will not do?Someones brother we know paid a lot to go to Korea and the loan paid Thai immigration to get him to korea and paid Korean immigration to let him in!!Since arriving he has survived two raids on factories he was working in and didnt get paid and is now in another job.Good little earner for immigration people eh!!!!

Sure there is more to this story than we are being told.

Yes... It's Media Lip Service...

How do the Million of Illegals manage to get through the 4 or 5 military check points on the roads?

They are periodically rounded up in various towns in immigration raids, especially in Bkk and then sent back home... Only to return again a week or so later...

It's a cycle, a money maker... Of course now and again there is a 'crack down' to show the public something is being done about it...

Recycle, rewash.... And go again... It's a big game... We, the public know, They know we know.... They don't care!
