Travelling outside of Thailand question

Featured Replies

Good day,

Since we have been residing in Thailand it will be our first trip outside the country in July. The sheet of paper you get after the 90 day report is filed, does that have to be in your passport when you travel, to show that you have been reporting on time? Also, there is a date on it at the bottom which indicates when your next reporting will be. I understand that this date resets when you travel and 90 days are counted from the day on which you re-enter Thailand again. So do they stamp a new date on that sheet of paper OR it becomes self explanatory that you travelled from the arrival stamp dates as well as the date on the new arrival card when we enter? Thanks.

  • No. You don't need to show the 90 day report slip when you travel and it doesn't need to be in your passport. Border immigration have no interest in 90 day reports.
  • As you are leaving the country before the 90 day report is due it becomes void.
  • The border immigration will not give you a new reporting date. It's up to you to work it out. You're right that day 1 is the day to re-enter.

But then on departure at the airport, how do they know you filed your report and did not overstay?

you have an extension that suffices!!

Do you have a re-entry permit to re-enter Thailand?

  • 90 day reports have nothing to do with your permission to stay. It's a report to update your address.
  • You can only overstay if you stay longer than the date stamped in your passport when you enter the country, or the expiry date of an extension of stay.
  • The IO's at the airport will not be interested in your 90 day reports.

Yes my extension of stay is valid until December 1 and I have a re-entry permit until this date too. My next date of report on the sheet is 5 September because I filed my 90 day report on June 6. I am traveling from 3rd July to 14th August. Therefore, my 90 day reporting will reset to approx. 12th November-ish as I will enter back into Thailand on 14th Aug and so that will be day 1.

  • If you enter on August 14th your report (90th day) would be November 11th.
  • You can forget about the report due on September 15th as you are leaving before it becomes required.

Ok great! Thank you so much for your help.

For safety's sake, I recommend that you staple your 90-day report receipt to the last page of your passport. Fold it in half from bottom to top then in half again from left to right. After that staple the bottom leaf (upper right corner of the document) to the upper right corner of the passport page so that when you unfold it you can see the whole page. That's the way that immigration attaches your receipt to the passport if you report in person.

Why?

Immigration on departure from the country do not care about 90 day reports. Many people take the receipt for doing them out of their passports be fore leaving the country.
