I've upgraded my Royal Institute Dictionary front end to the 2011 edition. (Until now it's been the 1999 version.) It's available at:

The 1999 version is also still available.

I do have some concerns that some users may experience problems because of limitations with browser local storage. (Each of my three dictionaries stores a word list locally for improved performance.) I would be interested to hear if anyone does experience problems (either here, or via "Feedback" on the website). If so, I'll need to rethink.

Just tried a couple of searches in Firefox. No problems.

Excellent point, Capt. In the new version of the RID, many "compound" words are located within the definition of a root word. The word "ศักดิ์สิทธิ์" is one of those words:

"ศักดิ-, ศักดิ์ น. อำนาจ, ความสามารถ, เช่น มีศักดิ์สูงถือศักดิ์; กำลัง; ฐานะ เช่น มีศักดิ์และสิทธิแห่งปริญญานี้ทุกประการ; หอก, หลาว. (ส. ศกฺติ; ป. สตฺติ). ศักดินา น. (โบ) อำนาจหรือสิทธิที่พระเจ้าแผ่นดินพระราชทานให้แก่ไพร่ฟ้าข้าแผ่นดินตามศักดิ์ของแต่ละคน เดิมเป็นการถือครองที่ดินคิดเป็นจำนวนไร่ ต่อมาถือเป็นการกำหนดสถานะ สิทธิ หน้าที่ และความรับผิดชอบของคนในสังคม เช่น มหาอุปราช มีศักดินา ๑๐๐๐๐๐ เจ้าพระยาจักรีมีศักดินา ๑๐๐๐๐ ภิกษุรู้ธรรม เสมอนา ๖๐๐ ไพร่มีครัว มีศักดินา ๒๐ ยาจก วณิพก ทาส ลูกทาส มีศักดินา ๕ (สามดวง); (ปาก) คำประชดเรียกชนชั้นสูงหรือผู้ดีมีเงินว่าพวกศักดินา. ศักดิ์ศรี น. เกียรติศักดิ์ เช่น ประพฤติตนไม่สมศักดิ์ศรี. ศักดิ์สิทธิ์ ว. ที่เชื่อถือว่ามีอำนาจอาจบันดาลให้สำเร็จได้ดังประสงค์, ขลัง, เช่น สิ่งศักดิ์สิทธิ์ วัตถุมงคลศักดิ์สิทธิ์."

When using the new RID, one enters a word in the search box then clicks on either "ค้นจากคำ" or "ค้นจากความหมาย" ("search in the word section" or "search in the definition section"). If you try to find the subject word in the "word section" you will not find it. One must look in the "definition section." I think that Thai Notes needs to expand his RID search capability to look in the definition section.
