DDPM advises provincial authorities to brace for flooding, rainstorms, landslides and high tides

BANGKOK, 28 June 2016 (NNT) – The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) has advised provincial authorities to prevent and tackle flooding, rainstorms, landslides and high tides due to heavy rains in many areas.

Deputy DDPM Director General Kobchai Boonorana said that the agency has advised northern, northeastern, central, eastern and southern provinces to prepare to prevent and tackle flooding, rainstorms, landslides and high tides which could possibly damage property until June 29.

The provincial authorities in risk areas have been instructed to brace for flash floods and landslides due to heavy rains and to monitor the situation around the clock and ensure that their equipment has been prepared in case of emergency. Officials have been instructed that victims must be rescued or aided swiftly.

Requests for assistance can be made by calling Hotline 1784 around the clock.
