Dear All,

I am leaving Thailand, currently on a non-b with extension of stay based on work. My last working day will be the 31st of July, but i will not leave Thailand until the 8th of August.

I believe that as I am on an extension of stay based on work not a visa, my extension is invalidated the day my employment finishes and I have 24 hrs to leave the country....as opposed to 7 days if I was on a visa... Correct?

In that case I will just change my last day to be the 8th of August and use my annual leave days at the end, no issue there, just need to know what I need to do.

Also, do I have to cancel the extension myself? I work for a big company, HR will deal with the work permit, but I read I had to cancel the extension myself or I may have problems leaving the country?. Or can my HR department sort that out as well?

Trying to avoid doing it myself if I can as those last 8 days will not be spent in the area I normally live (ie: the immigration department I would normally need to go to), but rather in a remote location with out a immigration office.

Thanks in Advance

If you had a 90 day visa entry it would not end on the date your job ends. Only extension end on the date you stop working.

If your employer would agree to give you letter dated the 8th of August as your last day you could go to immigration a few days before that day and they would post date the cancellation until the 8th.

Some immigration offices would allow a company representative to cancel your extension for you. They would need your passport to do it.

It's an extension so I will get my work to do like you said. I'll get them to contact our immigration office to check if they will post date it for me as well. No point getting the company to do it if they need my passport as once I leave I wont be going back to the area and therefore wont be able to get my passport back.
