A German national who had been convicted of indecent acts against minors will be deported from Cambodia after being arrested by police for illegally staying in the country, a senior police official told Khmer Times on Tuesday. Major General Uk Heisela, the director of the Investigation and Procedure Department at the General Department of Immigration, said the former CEO of FX Animation, Udo Sabiniwicz, had been arrested on Monday afternoon in the Golden Home Guesthouse in Daun Penh district after authorities discovered him staying in Cambodia without a passport.

According to Maj. Gen. Heisela, the arrest was made after receiving information from Germany consular officials that Mr. Sabiniwicz’s passport has been revoked and Cambodian police acted in according with the immigration law. “We arrested him to send him back to his home country. We cannot allow any foreigner to live in Cambodia illegally. We do not discriminate against any foreign nationals,” he said, adding that Mr. Sabiniwicz will be deported this week after the completion of paperwork.

Maj. Gen Heisela said his officers arrested Mr. Sabiniwicz because he had no legal documents and his arrest was not because of his involvement in his previous crimes of committing indecent acts. Khoem Vando, the program director of anti-pedophile NGO Action Pour Les Enfants (APLE), said Mr. Sabiniwicz was arrested in June 2015 at his FX Animation Dubbing Studio in Chabar Ampov district and charged with abusing two boys aged 7 and 9.
