New Pattaya legal chief appointed to tackle encroachment

Sretapol Boonsawat has been appointed the new head of Pattaya’s Legal Department.

PATTAYA:--The non-elected transformation of Pattaya City Hall continued with acting Mayor Chanatpong Sriviset appointing Sretapol Boonsawat head of the city Legal Department.

Chanatpong, the city’s military-appointed permanent secretary, said the new legal director’s job will focus main on advising and pursuing cases involving encroachment on public property, a hot button issue of the National Council for Peace and Order.

Sretapol said he expected to retain his position for up to two years and will advise the acting mayor, appointed city council and law enforcement on properties, prosecution, flood issues, street hawkers, local vendors and especially businesses that are eating up public land.

And when he is offered bribes not to pursue encroachment cases he will of course report those responsible to the corruption police?

Then the encroachers will not only have their properties taken from them but also put in jail for trying to corrupt a government official.

This is no laughing matter!
