PHUKET: Lifeguards along Phuket’s west coast are urging swimmers to exercise caution at the beaches today (July 9) as the fallout from Super Typhoon Nepartak, which has slammed Taiwan, stirs up dangerous surf.

The Thai Meteorological Department’s Southern Meteorological Center (West Coat) issued a severe weather warning for the South of Thailand, including Phuket and the Andaman Sea.
Waves along the Andaman coast are two to three metres high today and tomorrow (July 9-10), and a precautionary warning was issued for flash floods.
“The storm has affected the weather for the past few couple days. Today is looking better and no sections at any beaches have been closed entirely,”Phuket Lifeguard Chief Prathaiyuth Chuayuan told The Phuket News today.
