30 days Koh Samui

Hi, hope to get some info regarding stay in Thailand. Our visitor is from South African (national) who originally flew from Australia to Thailand. He is 20 years old and received a stamp from the 14Jun to 13 Jul 2016 in his Passport. He will apply for a permanent visa (Education / Work) in August only since he would like to stay possibly under a year.

For now can he fly out and in again, will he be allowed? Any better alternative or suggestions will be appreciated.

He can get a 30 day extension of the 30 day entry he has at immigration for a fee of 1900 baht.

Thx Ubonjoe, can this 30 day entry be obtained here within Thailand or does he still need fly out. The 30 days extra will be enough to get his formal visa in place in August.

I think there is an office at Nathon on Koh Samui if he can do it within Thailand.
