BANGKOK, 11 July 2016 (NNT) - Officers from 65 units have attended drills on disaster preparedness to ensure security for investors, tourists and the general public.

Teams of physicians and nurses from the Bangkok Emergency Medical Service (Erawan Center) and hospitals under the Medical Service Department on Sunday joined in the drills at the Bangkok Youth Center Thailand - Japan. The drill was collaboration between the Royal Thai Army, the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Public Health, the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, relevant foundations and civil society networks. The drills were aimed at integrating equipment, personnel and resources for emergency handling in order to decrease loss of life and property.

Minister of Interior Gen. Anupong Paochinda presided over the opening ceremony of the drills. Mock fire and chemical spill drills were conducted under international standards. The drills were also in line with the government’s “Safety Thailand” campaign and “Thailand Vision” for the years 2015 - 2020.

Maybe he was one of those responsible for purchasing new parachute release cables and knows better than to jump out of a military airplane.

The biggest disaster for Thailand in recent times happened in 2014 when the elected Government was usurped by the Military. The next might be when the people try to take it back. Were either of these scenarios played out I wonder?
