Police investigation to identify source of fake copies of draft charter

BANGKOK, 14 July 2016 (NNT) - Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan revealed that police are now trying to identify who is responsible for the production of fake copies of a draft charter.

General Prawit said that he is confident the fake copies will not affect people’s perception of the draft constitution. He had a positive outlook on the police investigation to successfully reveal the origin of these copies.

To ensure peace ahead of the constitutional referendum, General Prawit added the intelligence unit is also keeping an eye on any political movement. The Deputy Premier also insisted that the general election will be held next year as scheduled, regardless of the referendum result.

According to General Prawit, the government has contingency measures in place to ensure the transition will occur. However, he said he has not been informed about what steps the government will take.

Has anyone actually seen the fake copies displayed by the authorities on the news or elsewhere?

I'm sure it's not propaganda; however, it could be that the junta is still waiting for the printers to finish the 'evidence' before it holds a press conference...

It seems that this story is the fake not the copies of the draft charter which were conveniently and easily found by a government official. No evidence has been provided by the government to show the copies are actually fake. Why because they are rea. Also why would anyone only produce a few hundred copies of the full charter which ordinary Thai people cannot understand anyway?

The supposed fake copies are real printed by the government's printing office but the government seems to think that they are being clever by trying to "prove" that there is a third hand trying to disrupt the government's fake democratic process.

The whole country is akin to a poor forgery.

From their "democracy" to their "justice system," from their "police force" to their "defence forces," from their electricity and telecommunications infrastructure to their roads and public transport, their water and stormwater drainage systems to their building practices - it's like they took a (very brief) look at a developed country and thought, 'hey, that looks easy, we can do that too! It looks so easy we don't even need to ask for help!'
