Where Is The Money?

Featured Replies

three guys finishing their meal and ask for the bill, the waiter tells them that the bill come to a total of $ 30 each of the guys take out $ 10 and give to the waiter, the teller tells the waiter: you over charged them mate, the bill should really be $ 25 and not $ 30, here $ 5 to give them back,

on the way back to the table the waiter decided not to tell about the mistake and only give them back one dollar each and pocket the remaining $ 2,

Now, each guy gave $ 10 and got back one dollar, meaning meal cost $ 9 each multiply 3 is $ 27

plus the two dollars the waiter pocketed come to total of $ 29, right ?

Where is the remaining One Dollar gone?? :o

Douglas Adams would say it's an example of Bistro-matics (gotta read the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy).

But I'd say there's a blatant error in the waiters maths. Not telling where, it would be rude to so early in the threads life :o

Read it carefully.

"I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"

It's dead easy this one! Just re-visit the math...

It could be a good test of aptitude for the Career Guidance people.

Any student stumped by it would be well advised to stay on in college and get the diploma so as to get the resulting job in wage-slavery.

On the other hand, those budding potentials to drop out of college and become young millionaires will say "Bugger all this maths. I am following the money!" and solve it in a flash.

c'mon it aint even a challenge, the waiter kept 3 dollars :o:D

Oldie but... crappy..

Oldie but... crappy..

but where did it go @kayo ???

  • 2 months later...

Subtract 2 dollars (that the waiter took) from 27 (what they paid), and you get to 25 dollars, which is what the restarant got. ADDING the 2 dollars instead of substracting them has no meaning.

He charged the 27,gave back 3 = 30 :o
