rooster59
Cherished number plate row leads to vicious double murder Image: Thairath BANGKOK: The hunt is on for a Pathum Thani man after a deal over a cherished number plate went sour. Two innocent men are dead - one a big bike owner who was promised a nice registration plate, the other a taxi driver who was shot in the head after he tried to help a dying man by phoning 191.The drama happened north of Bangkok in the Bang Kruay area of Nonthaburi at 1am on Friday morning.Three men had met at a McDonalds to discuss a refund concerning a cherished number plate for a big bike that had turned out to be fake. Nattaphoom (Chai) Fakyortthong, 31, a native of Pathum Thani had sold the plate to Anek (Kob) Sathongphrom, 38 who was the manager of MEPSCO and is a native of Yannawa in Bangkok. A friend called Thossaporn Santhatwattana, 29 was also present at the late night meeting.Thossaporn said that Nattaphoom arrived in an old Mercedes and parked outside. After a minor argument about the plate number they all went in Anek's Isuzu pick up to Nattaphoom's place to get some documents but he couldn't get in and asked to be driven back to McDonalds. When they had gone a little of the way back Nattaphoom said he needed to urinate and asked to get out. As he did he pulled out a gun and said to his friend: "I'm sorry Kob" and shot him twice in the legs. Another bullet grazed the shoulder of the friend. Anek (Kob) managed to drive off 700 metres until the loss of blood meant he could go no further. Thossaporn hauled him out of the pick-up so they could seek help from a passing motorist. They were now outside Ratchapreuk University. At this point a taxi driven by Surachai Saengthong, 41, came on the scene and the driver stopped to help out calling 191. At just that moment the shooter caught up. He shot his friend Anek in the chest and the taxi driver making the police call in the head. Both died later in hospital.Thossaporn managed to flee to the university to seek the help of a security guard. He was only slightly injured. In the meantime the shooter stole the taxi to escape.Police found seven shell casings and unused shells from the same 9mm gun at the two locations. In the light of morning police chiefs called crisis meetings to discuss what to do. The taxi driver's sister had arrived to implore them to make a quick arrest for her wholly innocent and unfortunate brother who was only trying to help an injured man.An arrest warrant is being sought for Nattaphoom.Police said that the dispute was over a cherished number plate. Both Anek and Nattaphoom liked big bikes. Anek had paid more than 100,000 baht for a fancy number plate organized by his friend that turned out to be fake and wanted his money back. This, they said, was why he was shot. Source: Thairath -- 2016-07-

Happy Grumpy
Madness, two murdered over 100,000 baht. 100,000 times more than the One Baht Killer last year. One suspects that the amount is irrelevant.

falang07
I wonder what are the real statistics and how many people get killed due to greed every year. EDIT: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crime_in_Thailand Crime in Thailand is a persistent, growing, complex, internationalized, and under-recognized problem. Since the 2014 coup, crime in Thailand is reported by the Royal Thai Police; however, there is no single agency which acts as a watchdog and publishes statistics. Reigntax
If only Thailand produced more fake weapons that could be used during the failed transactions of fake goods, the pretend cops wouldn't have to prove each time, when it comes to law enforcement, they have no fakin idea. trainman34014
Always makes me giggle when i read the words...''An arrest warrant is being sought ''. Of course we all know there has to be a delaying tactic in case anyone involved in the crime is 'High So' and must be given time to escape, blame someone else, pay off a Patsy, pay off the Police, get Daddy to help out, plead insanity or flee the country. When this country will ever even begin to grow up and actually progress into the real world i really don't know !

The ongoing 'wars for oil' would make up a significant proportion. But back on topic, the absolute worst part of this latest gun related insanity is that a poor bloody taxi driver had been shot in the head simply for attempting to aid one of the victims. Sickening.
