What Visa Should I Get?

Featured Replies

Hi Everyone,

Understanding all the visa options and related processes to me seems to be quite a big task.

Here is my situaion

- I wil come to Thailand early Febuary.

- Now I am living in Australia, I am a Australian with an Australian passport.

- I plan to relax for about 3 months in Thailand and travel around a little.

- After my 3 months of holidays I am sure I will get bored and want to look into a business to start.

- I guess I will need to Start a company the usual way with a Thai partner.

- I want to live in thailand at least one or two years.

- The business I start may be internet only and based in forign countrys, If this is the cause I want need to start a Thai company.

- I dont want to be doing visa runs all the time.

- I am only 24.

- All my money is tied up in my apartment here. If needed I can have 2240000 available. But I would prefer not to have this in any Thai bank account. I would prefer to put this money into my morgage.

What visa should I get? Idea about costs?

Thanks for your help

Check with the Brisbane consulate, they may be able to give you a double entry tourist visa, allowing you to stay for up to 6 months.

2 months, + 1 month extension,

quick trip out and back to Thailand,

2 months, + 1 month extension.

As for starting a business I suggest you talk to SunBelt and they will be able to advise you. You will need money if you want a company that can offer you a Work Permit.

Otherwise a long term stay at your age is now very difficult.

You could try for a 12 month mulitple-entry Non-Immigrant B businesss visa to explore business opportunities. As you don't have a business just now you would need a business sponsor from Australia or Thailand. This visa has to be applied for in your home country. Costs about 6,000 Thai baht. Just need to do a border run every 90 days. Contact your local embassy/consulate for full info. Simple procedure. PM me if you need more info. I've done it befroe in the UK.

If you don't know a business that can sponsor you contact Sunbelt to see if you are eligible for their sponsorship programme.

According to your info, you are gonna have to do border crossings anyway, well at-least untill you set up a company and can get a proper visa/ extension from immigration.

Try for a Non-Immigrant B visa, from Brisbane, if not, try to get a double entry tourist visa. Once you business is set up properly, you will have more options, but I would talk to Sunbelt about this.
