Deputy police chief named head of referendum monitoring center

BANGKOK, 21 July 2016 (NNT) – Deputy National Police Chief Pol Gen Srivara Ransibrahmanakul has been entrusted with leading the security center for monitoring and promoting the August 7 constitutional referendum.

Pol Col Krisana Pattanacharoen, Deputy Spokesperson for the Royal Thai Police, revealed that National Police Chief Pol Gen Chakthip Chaijinda has instructed superintendents of all police stations across the country to thoroughly study the content of the Public Referendum Act and other laws governing police responsibilities during the referendum. In a bid to ensure a smooth voting process, all officers were told to coordinate with the government in a proactive manner.

On this occasion, Pol Col Krisana said the National Police Chief also designated Pol Gen Srivara, his deputy, as head of the referendum monitoring center, which is already in operation. The center is responsible for keeping an eye on any developments surrounding the charter referendum as well as informing public members of what they can or cannot do.

Pol Col Krisana reiterated that the government is not intent on prohibiting the expression of opinions on the referendum but only wants to ensure that those opinions are sincere and free of political motives.

Surely the PM had a brother, sister, son or nephew who could have been appointed to performed this duty. Must have run out of family members to appoint to senior positions as they are all occupied fighting nepotism and corruption.
