Two fires in South as PM visits Narathiwat

NARATHIWAT: -- Two fires broke out almost simultaneously in Thepha and Sabayoi districts of Songkhla province before dawn Monday as Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha began his visit to Narathiwat province today.

The first fire was reported at a grocery shop at 2.30 am in Sabayoi owned by Mr Tuam Promrakthai.

He was not at home when the fire started but was tapping rubber in his plantation.

The fire happened at the place where fireworks were stored.

The whole shop was gutted.

A second fire was reported at the house of Mrs Tanomsil Kwanpet in Thepha district.

The fire completely destroyed the house.

Songkhla forensic police inspected both scenes this morning to determine whether the two fires were insurgency-related arsons as they happened just before the prime minister and his team would begin tour of the South this morning to follow up progress in the economic zones in the South.
