All vans to be removed from Victory Monument in Oct

BANGKOK, 26 July 2016 (NNT) – Authorities have confirmed that the operation to relocate passenger vans from the Victory Monument will be conducted on a trial basis in September before it takes full effect on October 25.

Deputy Commander of the Second Cavalry Division King’s Guard Col Suwit Ketsri, in his capacity as chairman of the committee in charge of reorganizing public vans, has met with the Transport Ministry, the Department of Land Transport, the Royal Thai Police, the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration and other related agencies in order to discuss the management of vans around the Victory Monument.

Col Suwit denied reports that all vans operating in the area would be moved out by August 1 this year. Instead, he clarified that the committee has planned a trial relocation of over 4,000 interprovincial vans to the three main bus terminals of Bangkok from September 21-28. During the period, the Bangkok Mass Transit Authority will provide free charter buses to serve passengers commuting between the Victory Monument and the bus terminals.

According to the committee chairman, if the initial plan goes smoothly, all other types of passenger vans will be cleared from the Victory Monument on October 25.

I am sure that a lot of the van owners will make sure that it doesn't go smoothly. Let`s see what happens this time.

So in place of the vans going to Victory Monument you will have buses to replace the vans. This solves nothing just the bigger buses replacing the vans. Keep the vans. get the rail service moving faster.
