DASTA promotes Pattaya as ASEAN hub for halal food

CHONBURI, 28 July 2016 (NNT) - Designated Areas for Sustainable Tourism Administration (DASTA) is promoting Pattaya as an ASEAN hub for halal food.


Thiti Chantaengphol, the acting managing director of DASTA's Office of Designated Area 3 (Pattaya City and Vicinity), disclosed that DASTA has cooperated with the Nern Plub Wan community in Nongprue municipality to develop the community into the center of halal food suppliers in the Pattaya area and its vicinity to accommodate visitors from the Middle East and Islamic tourists, especially the Indonesians.

During the first five months of this year, there were 275,283 visitors from the Middle East, accounting for a 9.55 percent increase from last year and 205,764 visitors from Indonesia, a 9.53 percent increase from last year.

He said that DASTA will focus on providing knowledge on the correct principles of Islamic cooking for Thai and foreign food as well as food packaging.

Yes Pattaya is Asean's logical choice for enforcing bronze age Islamic standards. Indonesia and Malaysia are just too permissive and loose.

That's why there are so many Muslim men in Pattaya already isn't it?

I wished they do it in BKK.

Shoarma, Doner kebab, indonesian ricedish, malaysian curry bring it on!

Try the sateh Lilit from Bali if you see it somewhere...It's made of ground fish/prawns/coconut/curry

Pattaya ,the perfect destination for Muslim men who do not drink ,do not go with loose women , do not go to discos and just like to visit the local mosque and pray five times a day . yes so many of them in Pattaya .

A hub of Halal food...

I understood Bangkok being an Aviation hub. I almost understood Chiang Mai being a holiday resort hub. But Pattaya as a Halal food hub? I just don't get it.

What's next? Korat becoming a unicycle hub? Udon Thani becoming a hub for transvestite dwarf throwers?
