From Sukhumvit and Thepprasit roads to smaller streets like Soi Bongkot and Soi Kophai, it was bumper-to-bumper traffic July 19, as Bangkokians and others from nearby provinces crowded into Pattaya for the Asalaha Bucha-Khao Phansa break.

On that day, I took a motorcycle taxi from the North Pattaya Bus Terminal to Soi Lenkee. I counted over 30 buses on 3rd Road between North Pattaya Rd and Pattaya Klang, waiting in traffic for the stoplight. The number of tour buses in Pattaya has increased enormously over the last few years and are a big part of the problem.
