PAI: -- A deaf girl from Chiang Mai drove on a motorbike to Pai to look for her mum who left her in a home for the handicapped 15 years ago and never came back.

Phijitra Muangthaicharoen, 24, is hoping she might find her mother Deli Khamsai before mother's day, next Friday August 12th, reported Sanook.

She reported her missing to Pai police who are now actively trying to locate her to reunite mother and daughter.

Deli, originally from Kalasin, left her daughter at a Chiang Mai home for the handicapped when she was just 9 years old. Her parents had already split up. Mum never returned.

Pijitra learnt how to communicate through writing and signing and eventually married a man she met at the home called Ayja, 26, who is also deaf. The couple and friends made the journey from their home in Chiang Dao to begin the search this week.

But it has not proved easy. Her mum had married a soldier from the local camp in Pai but when he had died two years ago she left the area saying she was going to try her luck in Bangkok. Friends had not heard from her since and her phone number was dead.

Now Phijitra is pinning her hopes on the power of the police to trace her mum in time for mother's day.

The touching story had reached 14,400 people by yesterday on social media.

.....2 marriages....then .......'try her luck in Bangkok'.....???

....no wonder the child was abandoned......

....they use the term 'mother' too loosely around here........

....the root of myriad social and psychological problems of the population.......

Good luck to her, but sad to say if her mother abandoned her 15 years ago.

Left for Pai, then left again for Bangkok, i think the poor girl will not find a loving reception if she does find her mother.

I'm sure that if she were to show up with a farang husband or boyfriend her mothers maternal instincts will suddenly return.
