Prayut says he will vote Yes to both draft charter and attached question

 

 

BANGKOK: -- Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha announced his clear stance on the August 7 referendum saying he will vote Yes for the draft charter and Yes to its attached question.

 

He said giving Yes to either one or the other could not bring the reform to success.

 

He made clear that he will exercise the vote as a normal citizen which has no connection with his position as either the prime minister or the head of the National Council for Peace and Order.

 

He said he has consulted legal advisors before making clear of his stance publicly in the draft charter.

 

His decision on the vote should not be interpreted as a guidance for other voters as it is just his personal stand.

 

Voting Yes to one and No to another would only bring the country back to square one, he said.

 

With the approval of both it would enable the planned election in 2017 to be held in accordance with the government’s roadmap, he said.

 

The attached question ask voters if they will allow senators to select a prime minister, according to the National Legislative Assembly.

 

He said after the referendum, it needs more time to promulgate organic laws, and ministerial regulations to implement the charter.

 

The charter itself could not function unless all related organic laws are promulgated and implemented, he said.

 

He said it was also necessary that the country must be in peace and order for a period of five years to achieve the reform.

Wow that comes as a major shock.

Did he really need to say that  ?    I take it he'll be leading Tuesday's  ' brain storming  '   session  !

It would, wow, that is a telling remark right there. So if people approve the charter but vote no to "should senators be allowed to choose the PM"  we are back to square one ?

 

So why pose the question in the first place ? I understand that voting No to the charter would mean we are back to square one, but voting yes on the charter and no on the question would imply that the charter is going to be amended on that point.

 

Apparently not. Telling, very telling.

i thought it was illegal to say how you are voting!

So what is he? Apart from numerous other possible answers, is he, as stated above, either the PM or the head of the NCPO? If not, then he can't be a normal citizen either, as this has no connection to the other two. To further add to the confusion, the Cambridge Dictionary will tell you (http://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english/either-or) that, either-or is used to refer to a situation in which there is a choice between two different plans of action, but both together are not possible!

While HE may believe that HE is doing things right, that really doesn't count for much unless they are the right things.

The mad monk is obviously still pulling his strings and writing his dribble speaches with an attempt of some humour.

That is not news, now if he were to say that he was voting no that would be news

You don't often see him in his military uniform - I think he's been told the international optics are bad - but he donned it for this pronouncement.

I think he deserves a good AA session and 10 years in the klink for violating the EC referendum rules.

Glad to hear that there will be at least 1 yes vote.

Even Mynmar have a dig at the military charter. That's so sad if not hilarious for the sick man of Indo-China to have a go at the charter critizing it as sub-standard if approved on Sunday. This from a state newspaper. Thailand has over taken Mynmar as the sick man.

One of the best things about Thailand is that everywhere else in the world if you want the news you have to read a newspaper and if you want comedy/satire, you have to read something else like The Onion.  But in Thailand, the news and comedy are the same thing.  

The PM Khun Prayuth has done a good job to restore law and order to what was a wild west society.

No more thugs dictating road closures and unorganized rallies.  Of coarse your going to have anarchy when those knuckle heads are allowed to do what they like.

Thailand hasn't been so good for a long time and Khun Prayuth Chan o char has worked hard to get it back on track.

And seriously, Prayuth must hold the whole nation in utter contempt if he thinks that people believe nonsense like this. Of course he'll vote 'Yes'. How else would he vote? He and his military cronies controlled all aspects of this fatuous referendum from day one.

Does Prayuth have to go to his hometown to vote ? If he's not from BKK did he submit a request to vote in BKK? Where's the evidence?
