Finnish National Found Hanged in South Pattaya

PATTAYA:-- At 5.30pm, on the afternoon of August 5, Pattaya Police were called to the scene of a suspected suicide by hanging.

 

At a house in Suksabai Village, Soi Korpai, which runs between Thepprasit Road and Pattaya South, the body of Finnish national Jari Olavi Heikkinen has been found hanging from a bathroom door with a white nylon rope.

 

A small stool way laying nearby and there were no signs of a struggle or robbery.

 

Mr Heikkinen’s girlfriend, who has not been named, told officers that she had last seen him at midday, lying drunk by the pool.

2. Why farangs trust bar girls so easily..When they have high IQ compared to other countries and people from developed countries are suppose to be Logical and Rational before making a decision, which is what makes their country developed. 

 

3. If they are drinking too much...One needs to ask WHY? Why they do not care for their own health?

 

4. If they trust a bar girl and she pushes him ...Why are they not doing research before coming to a third world country. They are from First world, they are supposed to be smart and educated.

 

This is same as..If Thailand was so bad..Why Farangs do VISA RUNS 

 

Is it so bad back home that..They do not really care about health, wealth and life anymore? They got nothing to lose?

 

This being Pushed does not hold any ground for Farangs as an excuse when they are educated, have high IQ, have good social security back home.

Possibly, he came here to regenerate his lost 'happiness' for whatever reason he left behind. It is possibly a truism that after the initial glitter has washed off, leaving behind a life just as bad (i.e. the reality) it causes many men to become depressed, and turn to whatever narcotic that can soothe them. Once the 'hit' has worn-off, some take it to the ultimate by stopping their world and getting off.

 

While the above 'statistic' is questionable, and probably cannot be proven, the logic behind the 'pushed' motivation is undeniable (because of the number of male deaths from countries that do have supporting official and medical help for those unfortunates).

 

In other words, a 'straw poll' among living members on here would probably result in similar results.

Thailand is a magnet for mentally ill people as it's reputation  is such that all those things you may want to do  back home and can't can be done in Thailand.  Many mentally ill people are taking medication for their illness but one of the side effects is impotence. They come to Thailand, stop taking the medication. end up with a 'girlfriend'- however without the medication the demons come back and the end result is suicide.  RIP.

I know some American and British therapist who do psychologically counselling in Thailand and they informed me of this. They stated it was quite prevalent. Of course , their  job is to help people not end up as a suicide.

I have several hypotheses, unpopular perhaps and not as exciting as some, but worth considering nevertheless:

 

1) that the suicide rate among expats in Thailand is very similar to the suicide rate in their home countries

 

2) suicide as a result of significant illness is not uncommon.

 

3) suicide resulting from loss of wealth, by whatever means, is also not uncommon.

An excellent point, the suicides rates resulting from depression in Finland and Scandinavian are much higher than the norm.

I think it needs to be looked at why these people chose to spend time in Thailand, or why they choose to live here.  Also, love and lust has nothing to do with being smart. Lastly, a percentage of these are set up to look like suicides, but are murders or cover ups in order to not affect the tourist numbers.  No easy answers

Pushed off a stool with a rope around his neck??  Who put the rope there?  Who climbed on the stool?  Presumably he did those two actions himself, so had the intent of killing himself.

There was never any question as to who the guilty party is here at the Bar Stool Crime Scene Investigator's (BS-CSI) headquarters. Obviously some diminutive Thai lady tied a rope around his neck, lifted him onto a stool while affixing the rope to the door and then knocked the stool out from under him. Or are we day dreaming about some band of conspirators collaborating. 

There should be a TV Survey asking how many members believe in UFOs, Big Foot and the Easter Bunny.

Lack of common sense. A high IQ enables a person to understand many things, an education develops those things into specific areas of knowledge; neither guarantee you could figure your way out of a closet.  Existing under the impression that your place and culture of origin is somehow superior and more developed than others, is the epitome of lack of common sense.

The theorists are out in force!.  An awful lot of hot air but TIT and anything could be true.  Like most incidents it is unlikely that the facts will ever emerge.

it is a fact that there is a lot of people here who have mental issues

it is also a fact that there are a lot of  expats who die here 

it is also a fact that some deaths get put down as suicide when they are not

the trick is finding which is which and not putting all of them together
