BANGKOK, 6 August 2016 (NNT) - Despite concerns of possible disruption, the President of the National Legislative Assembly (NLA) believes the public referendum will run smoothly.

NLA President, Pornpetch Wichitcholchai said today that there haven't been any reports of political activism ahead of the nationwide public referendum on Sunday, but he fears that dissenters will cause disruption on the referendum day. Despite these concerns, the president believes the reform process including the referendum will go ahead as planned and that security units will be able to prevent violent incidents.

He also asked members of the public to exercise their rights by going to the polls, adding that the country’s future is in the hands of its people.

The countrywide referendum will be held on Sunday (August 7) from 8 am until 4 pm.

"The country's future is in the hands of the people."

Regardless of the outcome of the referendum, the deck has been stacked to ensure the future of the country is firmly out of the hands of the people.

They mean the people with guns and tanks ?
