Where to get a Non-O Multi- Entry Visa?

Featured Replies

I have 2 Non-immigrant O visas in my passport based on visiting my child. Both were issued in Houston USA with no problem, at the time I got the visas I worked in Houston. I was advised that I could a new non O visa in Savannakhet, Laos but I was told by a number of people they only issue single entry visas, this is not an option for me because I travel frequently outside Thailand.

I do qualify for a retirement extension and understand that if I leave Thailand during the extension I need a re-entry permit. Does a retirement extension relieve the extension holder of the 90-day reporting requirement? Visa sites have so many different answers to theses issues, it is hard to find out what is the real situation is.

I now make my home in Thailand and am married with a family.

I am not sure if I must go back to the USA to renew my Non-O visa of it I can continue to come and go as I please with a retirement extension and re-entry permit.

Also I will leave Thailand a few days before my current Non-O visa expires and will get another 90 days when I come back. At the end of the 90 days my Non-O visa will be expired. Can I correctly assume I can get a retirement extension under these circumstances?

Any information greatly appreciated.

  • If you are married to a Thai you could get a multiple entry non 'O' visa from Savannakhet. You would need to leave/return every 90 days or apply for an extension of stay. It's a good option for someone that travels a lot.
  • If you are living in Thailand and already have a valid non 'O' visa you can apply for a 1 year extension of stay. The extension could be based on marriage or over 50. You can apply for the extension within the last 30 (maybe 45) days of any 90 day permit to stay as long as you can meet the financial requirements.
  • Any 1 year extension of stay requires you to report anytime you stay in the country longer than 90 days.

You can get a multi re-entry Non-O in Savannakhet as of this time. I did mine last year and plan to go again this month. As long as you have all the relevant paper work it will be fine. I am sure Ubonjoe will be along shortly and also confirm what I have written.
