Returns show landslide win for junta in charter poll

EC confident of over 50 percent voter’s turnout

BANGKOK: -- Election commissioner in charge of elections Somchai Srisutthiyakorn said he was confident that the referendum voter’s turnout was more than 50 percent and higher than the turnout result of the last referendum.

One killed and two cops injured when militants attacked a ballot carrying truck

 

PATTANI: -- Suspected militants detonated a roadside bomb aimed at a convoy carrying ballot boxes to Pattani’s Sai Buri district, killing one a school official and injuring two policemen on Sunday afternoon.

EC to pursue charges against those who tore ballot with political motive

  

BANGKOK, 8 August 2016 (NNT) – The Election Commission (EC) clarified regarding reports that some voters had tore their ballots in many provinces, stating that most cases were due to misunderstanding. The EC will however press charges against those who tore ballot voluntarily with a political motive.

PM thanks Thai people for coming to referendum
