"Scary traffic cop" forgives woman who posted rude comment - incident ends all smiles

NAKHON SRI THAMMARAT:-- A post that caused a social media storm has ended happily. A woman had posted a picture of a traffic cop who was caught in an off moment looking decidedly fierce.

The post was accompanied by some unkind words about the cop - known in Trang in the south of Thailand for being a very well liked and respectable policeman, reported Daily News.

Siriporn Deeharee said online: "Police are meant to be the friends of all the public. What breed is this ******* one?"

Friends, relatives and children of the cop - 57 year old Pramot Tragunwangthong attached to the Trang traffic force - were incensed and tried to persuade him to sue for defamation.

But he wasn't having that. "I am old school", he said. "I was taught to tolerate and put up with things. I have lost nothing in this business".

It was his relatives that had alerted him to the online storm of protest and comment - he doesn't bother with Facebook, Line or even have internet on his phone.

Siriporn, however saw the light and realized she had done him wrong.

She arrived in Trang yesterday with some friends after having driven down from Chonburi. The Nakorn Sri Thammarat native wai-ed in apology - and even brought some cakes as a peace offering.

Officer Pramot gave some friendly advice about thinking twice before posting online and thinking about the negative effect of such posts on friends and relatives.

But even those relatives have been encouraged by Pramot's response to let the matter rest and all is now water under the bridge.

Pramot will go back to directing the traffic - that he does so well and in such a friendly way. He was named in 2008 as one of the three best traffic cops in the province and even won a shield in recognition for his kindly approach to the public.

The picture of him that was posted is thought to have come from a collection of snaps that were online that had been taken during a police meeting held in the province earlier this year.

Deep down she fancies him and was just looking for an opportunity to meet.

People with no life and too many digital media equipment have ' created a storm ' of a picture of a policeman

Decent guy.

I wonder how the TVF BiB haters will spin this one?

Any advance on Jack Palance  ?

A story that ends well.

Thailand we love and who sometimes gives us a nice picture of humanity. :)

the next one tries it won't get off so lightly

Kudos to the policeman for his 'old skool' approach & attitude to this. Also to the girl who recognized she had screwed up.

Just shows how the social media can work at times; someone posting something that has nothing to do with them, people becoming incensed with great advice to sue, etc about something that doesn't concern them directly.

Storms in teacups..............................;)

He is just an ordinary Thai without whitening lotion thing. If whitening stuffs were prohibited in the kingdom many will be like him :D

Those who criticise the incompetent and corrupt BIBs that appear in the news [and our daily lives in some cases on occasion] will be happy to know not all are as worthless as those we see as damaging to the general state of law and order and thus the well being of Thailand.

I think you need to actually read the post, it was one woman who criticized the copper.

Were the netizens outraged? That's all that matters.
