I would like some help so I can plan expenses and not pay too much (I pay for 2 persons).

I would fly from BKK to surat thani and then ~3 days samui and 3 days phangang. Where should I go first and how? (bus+ferry best?)

How to go from 1 island to another?

After that, I would go back surat thani and go chiang mai for ~3 days.

Then, I go BKK but I'm thinking to rent a car. Is there anything good to see on the road between chiang mai and BKK? (maybe stay somewhere for few nights). I know fuel is cheap but what about roads/highway?

Thank you!

I'm guessing you are flying AA.  They've got a program setup to get you to Samui.  From there to KPN is very easy.  A short boat ride.  Just ask your hotel for help and they'll take care of you.

It's a long drive to Bangkok.  If you've got the time, there are some great places to stop.  But you'll need at least 3-4 days.  How much time do you have?

Thank you, I've checked for AA and see they have this setup to samui .

I have time.. it's no problem if have ok places to sleep for good money and food on the way. Is it possible to go from CM to BKK without highway?

Air Asia fly daily from Surat Thani (URT) direct to Chiang Mai (CNX).

The overnight-train is an interesting, if not terribly fast, way to travel back from Chiang Mai to Bangkok.

Have a good trip !

I would do Samui first, ferry from Donsak about an hour or so from Surat Thani Airport.

Choice of Seatran or Raja ferries...  takes about 1.5 hours to Nathon, Samui. Or there is high speed ferry offered by Lomprayah to Samui (45 mins... part of Air Asia package, if you ask) ....do web search. Book joint ticket.

From Samui to Koh Phangan, there is Lomprayah ferry from Maenam, to Tongsala or Seatran from Ban Rak to Tongsala. (walk on and takes about 1/2 hour from Maenam.)
