Speedo1968 Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 Are there any pharmacies near Tucom or Central Khon Kaen that sell local made equivalents of medications ? I only know of one pharmacy on the main road on the way to Immigration near one of the big hospitals. I do not live in Khon Kaen. I used to get in my local town but they now no longer stock the one I need. I am looking for the equivalent of BetaLOC. The alternatives I can use are Hyperloc or Cardeloc. Thanks in advance.
KhunBENQ Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 Cardeloc is manufactured in Thailand. http://www.mims.com/thailand/drug/info/cardeloc http://www.mims.com/thailand/company/info/t. o. chemicals Do a print of this and ask at the local pharmacies. I will try to find some addresses...

KhunBENQ Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 I am only an occasional visitor to Khon Kaen, not living in the city. From the net, there is a big pharmacy ("TS Pharma") on the corner of Sri Chan and Klang Muang rd. https://www.google.co.th/maps/@16.4302391,102.8356454,3a,90y,109.07h,86.11t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1szMT3fork6yNJa0EP3nGUug!2e0!7i13312!8i6656 I have passed there so often not noticed that there is a pharmacy. The only pharmacies that I know personally: The small ones at Watsons or Boots at Tukcom, Central, one at Big C (Mitraphap). A small one walking from Tukcom to Sri Chan rd. (left hand after the passage, well hidden).
Sheryl Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 Any real pharmacy (i.e. a store dedicated to the selling of medicines - a ran kai ya - as opposed to the small pharmacy counters inside a Boots or Watsons) will have local brands. You will usually find large local pharmacies located near government hospitals. Try around the KKU Hospital. Also, there is a Fascino's in KK, see https://www.facebook.com/pages/Fascino-Khon-Kea/1088533691174932
Speedo1968 Posted August 12, 2016 Author Posted August 12, 2016 Many thanks Sheryl. Where I live in Banphai ( south of KK ) none of the pharmacies stock BetaLOC or its local equivalent. Perhaps it's an outdated medicine ? As I have multiple drug allergies ( inc antibiotics and all aspirin other than Aspent ), I am lucky that there are at least 2 local alternatives to BetaLOC that agree with me. It's a 90km round trip by local bus for a few baht's worth of meds to last 3 months. Thanks again for all your helpful responses.
Speedo1968 Posted August 12, 2016 Author Posted August 12, 2016 Thanks again KhunBENQ. Will do the rounds on Saturday and stock up for the next few months.

(on Google street view of 2014 you see an older picture of some motorcycle shop) Be aware: the map location on that FB page as well as on the store locator of Fascino is obviously wrong. (some remote housing areas) Here is photo of the shop with the phone number (043-040115): https://www.google.com/maps/place/ร้านยาฟาสซิโน+สาขาใกล้รพ.ขอนแก่น/@16.4288486,102.8541581,3a,75y,90t/data=!3m8!1e2!3m6!1s-RmAUZyC43M0%2FV2ej-1ardJI%2FAAAAAAAAca4%2FlxbKmLtqLpYXm8lOInuNDsnzm4d3p0RCACLIB!2e4!3e12!6s%2F%2Flh6.googleusercontent.com%2F-RmAUZyC43M0%2FV2ej-1ardJI%2FAAAAAAAAca4%2FlxbKmLtqLpYXm8lOInuNDsnzm4d3p0RCACLIB%2Fs360-k-no%2F!7i2304!8i4096!4m5!3m4!1s0x0:0x59d13707ca0b76b0!8m2!3d16.4288486!4d102.8541581!6m1!1e1 From the above link you get a map location that makes much more sense: https://www.google.com/maps/place/ร้านยาฟาสซิโน+สาขาใกล้รพ.ขอนแก่น/@16.4288486,102.8541581,14z/data=!4m5!3m4!1s0x0:0x59d13707ca0b76b0!8m2!3d16.4288486!4d102.8541581 It's on the major west/east trough road (highway 12, "Sri Chant rd.") just after the provincial hospital (Khon Kaen Hospital) when coming from the city. I rarely pass by there, so I did not notice this new Fascino.
