Chinese Gamblers Flocking to NagaWorld

Featured Replies

NagaCorp group’s chief marketing officer in Southeast Asia said all the marketing initiatives of the company were helping more Chinese visitors to NagaWorld, a subsidiary of NagaCorp with a licensed casino in the heart of Phnom Penh. Mike Ngai, who is also managing director of casino operations and property at NagaWorld, told Macau Business Magazine on Tuesday, when the group’s interim results were released in Hong Kong, that the measures by Macau authorities aimed at tightening gaming policies had encouraged more customers to visit casinos outside the Special Administrative Region, including the company’s casino-resort NagaWorld in Phnom Penh.

Mr. Ngai said the trend had also prompted more customers to switch to Cambodia’s capital city. Cambodia’s government has laid out a plan to attract two million tourists a year and also wants to allow the circulation and use of China’s yuan currency in the economy.

NagaCorp has been collaborating with the biggest travel agent China international Travel Services and Bassaka Air to bring Chinese visitors to Cambodia since last year and that has resulted in a positive contribution to the group. “The group is targeting additional cities later this year and continuing to promote Phnom Penh as a tourist destination for Chinese visitors by improving accessibility to Phnom Penh,” the report said.
