It's Pokémon Go Thai style - not catching Pikachus but going after lottery numbers!

ANG THONG:-- Thais have been arriving in droves at two "magical" trees to take pictures with their phones looking for lottery numbers.

 

And locals have described their behavior as like that of looking for Pokémon Go cartoon characters.
 
Apparently the owner of the field beside the two 100 year old trees in Pho Muang Phan district of Ang Thong  won the lottery several times after determining numbers from the bark using pictures taken with his phone.

 

Word soon got round and locals started arriving - now news has spread further afield and many people are coming from far and wide with offerings to the spirits.

 

The trees are now surrounded with the usual trappings of the superstitious - red drinks, dolls and toys. People pray and light incense before looking for the elusive winning digits.

 

Lart Thewong, 50, a helper to the village headman, said that people had been arriving in droves: "It is like Pokémon," he said, "but instead of catching those things they are trying to get numbers for the national lottery".

 

According to Lert many have already been successful so that should ensure more visitors to the area.

After all billions of other people are running around everyday with some weird beliefs that good fortune will fall upon them if they pray to their sky wizards and gods.

He might make a bit on the side but the big boys have the game sown up.

with peoples efforts channelled into Pokomon and magic trees the country cant fail. 

And as with Pokemon, someone with a good entrepreneurial mind should have already set up a noodle cart nearby this new attractive hotspot.... 

 

And is going to win big for sure 555

 

I don;t think the man interviewed knows what the Pokemon game is all about lol......nothing to do with the bark on trees in the middle of nowhere.
