PHRAE: -- Water level in the Yom river in Phrae province remains normal today (Wednesday) against earlier forecast that it will rise up another 30 centimetres due to the anticipated arrival of substantial runoffs from Nan province.

Nevertheless, some villages in Muang district such as Ban Mai Hua Dong in Tambon Thung Wow, Muang district, began to feel the pinch from flooding. The village is already flooded 10-20 cm deep.

Farm land in Muang, Song, Nong Muang Khai, Soong Men and Den Chai districts which are located along the Yom river have also been flooded.

The water level of the Yom river is measured at 8.25 metre and is unlikely to rise further.

Phrae Governor Pichet Paiboonsiri said he expected the flood situation would not be serious and would ease in the next couple of days. However, he added that officials were on standby to respond to public needs in short notice.

Water runoffs are expected to arrive in Si Satchanalai district of Sukhothai province in the next two days.
