Ex-husband Sought over Wife’s Murder

The ex-husband of a 42-year-old masseuse is being sought by police as a suspect in her brutal slaying early yesterday morning at her home in Phnom Penh’s Meanchey district, according to police.   The murder took place at 1:30am yesterday at a massage parlor named Sok Visal Massage Shop 126 in Russey village in Meanchey district’s Stung Meanchey commune.    
 

Second Lieutenant Seng Saroeun, a district penal police officer, said the victim was Sok Sokhin, the owner and a masseuse at the massage parlor, and the suspect was Ton Theary, her 47-year-old ex-husband, who escaped after the killing. According to a police investigation, the suspect tried to get back together with his ex-wife several times but was rejected, enraging him. He then plotted to kill her at her home while she was sleeping, police said.
 

“He climbed onto the roof of the victim’s house. He cut the zinc [roof] and entered the house while the victim was sleeping along with her two kids,” he said. “He then stabbed her many times with a knife and slashed her throat, causing her to die in a bloody pool in the room,” he added. “After killing her, he opened the door and managed to flee the scene.”
