BANGKOK: -- The idea floated by the Tourism Authority of Thailand for the government to declare September 24-27 public holidays to promote tourism has been shot down as the issue was no discussed at the cabinet on Wednesday nor will it be discussed by the cabinet.

Government spokesman Maj-Gen Sansern Kaewkamnerd told reporters after the cabinet meeting that the government would not declare more public holidays during September 24-27 as speculated.

Then he referred to an earlier remark by Prime Minister Prayut Chan-ocha that additional public holidays must be kept at appropriate level and that they should not be meant for tourism promotion, but should take into account other aspects as well such as the economy.

But what about pokemon hunting?

Go ol' TAT....lose national productivity (I know, don't laugh) by giving everybody paid days off hoping they take some domestic trips and spend some more money.    I'm sure employers were thrilled with that brilliant suggestion (and still laughing).

a very, very rare occurrence; common sense has prevailed!

understated; not enough verys

Maybe they could add 20 or so extra days around 10 December (Constitution Day)?

This madame tourist minister is a creative mind.

But now she can concentrate on the abolishment of sex tourism/red light business.

Due date 31 Dec this year :cheesy:

She just saved me about 23,000 baht in lost wages( production).

I just may take the cash and spend some in Nana ?

Apparently TAT's idea was to just insert extra days into that particular week, making it a virtual 10-day week, and then deducting those days at the end of the month to get the calendar back to normal... The creativity chez TAT this week alone is boundless.

It's very hard to believe people whose job it is to tell lies.

Maybe it's true - today. Tomorrow? Well tomorrow's another day. Another day, another porkie pie.

I'm a bit confused.  I'm due to do my retirement visa around then and I cannot find any official holidays in that week on my Thai  calendar.  So, how could they be 'additional" -  to what ??    Thanks

Finally, they got one right!!
