ive been living here for a while with wonderful business, family. i am current member of gun association/group in thailand. ?

ive read a lot of misleading or false information from member here so i would like to clear them up. ?

if you have wealthy business with approved statement(moving couple million baht, carrying cash to bank etc), you can own a gun but under current military law im pretty sure 99% of foreigners dont have gun under their name. here are some of the things you can do and also advice when you own one...?

1. if your married than you can tell your spouse to apply for gun. you need statement / reason, you can make statement as home defense. example if your spouse is wealthy business person it would be self defense with occupation title/statment but this will be hard under current military law. i bet most of people wants to use it as self defense.

2. you can find guns in chinatown in weekday, thats where i get all my guns. i trade guns or buy from my friends/assocoates with correct title/license. you need i.d, job statement and reason, house registration of your spouse. it will take 2~4 week depending on statment approval.

3. rifle and shotgun will cost 40-60kand pistol will be vary from 80k-150K. you will book first, my dealer usually ask me 5000baht as reservation and statement fee.

4. you can purcjase hollow points from the shops because most of gun range will not have hollow points. if you get caught with hollow points inside the gun chamber, your going to have some issues. some will say pay money, those kind of bs will not get passed with magazine loaded with hollow points inside your firearm.

5. you can goto shooting range with your firearm, dont forget your passport and gun license. it will cost you about 1000baht per box of ammo and another 1000baht or entrance if your not from association. if you dont have your own firearm, you have to borrow it from the shooting range. purchasing package deals are expensive, any where from 5~9k baht depending on firearms and ammos.

Law

1. you cannot shoot someones brain out when somebody break into your house. warning shot is a must unless if theyre armed and shooting at you. i know a lot of angry farangs here will shoot their neighbors but you have to be calm when your armed.

2. you cannot carry fire arm with magazine or ammo loaded inside the chamber. must be seperated inside the vehicle...example, magazine and ammo inside glove compartment and gun inside the bag. license document is a must when yoh carry firearm.

3. if your moving certain amount of cash at night using vehicle for your safety. hope you or your spouse is smart enough to provide slip or reason if you get caught by police.

4. dont carry if your statment is requested and approved as home defense....its home defense.....home..defense...unless your doing no.3.

5. rifle and revolver are not allowed for carry....even if your doing no.3...if your purpose is protecting you family, your farm or money transportation sometimes than get your self an automatic pistol.

6. hollow points are issue just like i stated above no.4. you can get cheap grey testing rounds(not fmj copper heads) from shooting range if you do any carry.

facts

owning guns and shooting are known as wealthy peoples sports in asia where shooting range is owned by military and police association.

happy shooting!! ?

You don't have to be married,have a job,or be a business owner.

You just have to satisfy the the authorities you are well funded, hence bankstatement requirement.

Transporting or storing over a million Bht of gold, jewelry, cash, not two million.

A yellow house book will suffice,if not in blue house book.

We have one registered in the wife's name, a small automatic. With what has been going on up here over the last few months I wouldn't hesitate to use it myself if I felt mine or my family's life was in any kind of danger.

Be aware that by law, you cannot 'borrow' a weapon that isn't licenced to you. In the event that you used a weapon licenced to somebody else, in this case your wife, and used it, you would not legally be justified in doing it.

I do say legally............................;)
