If I enter Thailand on a non o 90day visa (marriage ) Once the 90 days are up can I then get a 60day extension at a Thai immigration office ?

Yes you can. It will cost 1,900 baht.

  • You should be able to apply early. At least within the last two weeks.
  • It's better to apply early incase there's a problem so that you have time to leave.
  • If you apply early the 60 days will start from the end of your initial 90 days. Day 1 of the 60 is the day after the 90 days ends.

Should you wish to remain in LOS after the 60 days are up you'll need to find some other legitimate way of extending your stay since consecutive 60-day extensions for the purposes of visiting your wife are not permitted.

Can the 60 day extension help with getting things in order before the very short time available to get ready for a 1 year extension request, like the 2-3 month 400,000 baht bank account requirement?

Yes you can apply for a 1 year extension at the end of the 60 day extension, so it's useful to buy more time. But you can only do it once per entry.

And your wife needs to be with you when you apply.

The 400,000 has to be in the bank for 2 months every time you apply.

400,000 baht needs to be there for a 60 day extension as well? Or just the 1 year extension?

Only the one year extension.
