I have a delightful run/jog/walk (your choice) for your hashing delectation on September 10th. Location is Tambon Bung Wai, 6km west along the Sisaket highway from Meuang Ubon Ring Road/Loop.

This hash:

  • has a beer stop at one of the cutest and best kept railway stations in Thailand
  • visits several attractive small lakes
  • starts and finishes at a lake-side sala that's crying out for a post-hash circle
  • negotiates some lovely gladed woodland paths
  • passes through the most contorted village soi network (to please any devious hash-laying hare like me) I have come across.

Some taster pics below

Pre-hash meet up is at N-Joy bar at 3pm (NOTE THE EARLIER TIME for the earlier nightfall season). Those who wish to go direct to the run site the departure on-on time is 3:30pm.

Hashing is social running and there have been hash clubs all over the world since its 1930s origins in Kuala Lumpur. The running bit is not taken seriously and beer is drunk to oil the social side. Ubon Hash, in line with the Ubon environment is laid back and only a few experienced hashers and wanabee enthusiasts put in a few spurts of running (sometimes!). The rest walk.

A trail is laid, typically in white chalk powder or chalked arrows and the pack has to find the trail, which keeps the front runners busy while the walkers catch up. Trails are typically 5km +/- 1km. After the run the beer ice-boxes are opened and the socialising begins. We usually go back for some more beer and maybe some food around town in the early evening, and some more beer later in the evening, but that is entirely optional on your part!

Finally a few pics from our August hash run at which we were joined by an entertaining bunch of hashers from Korat H3 and equally affable visitors from Phuket and Dubai hashes!

Hello Santisuk, I am keen to join the hashers . I did a few runs with the mob from Bali over the last few years but a recent motorcycle mishap has reduced me to a walker ( until I heal that is) but I still enjoy the liquid part of the festivities. I won't make this run, but I will be keen in the future. I look forward to it. How do I keep up with coming events?
