Four car thieves arrested

 

BANGKOK: -- Four suspects who allegedly robbed a pick-up truck at a gas station in Saraburi on August 24 have been arrested by police in Sa Kaeo and Phuket provinces.

 

The four suspects namely Watcharapong Chomherm, 29; Chatchai Raksa,19; Narong Thienchai 42 and a 17-year old youth whose name was withheld because he is regarded as underaged were presented at a press conference held at the First Region Provincial Police Bureau on Monday.

 

All were arrested in Sakaew province with the exception of Watcharapong who was nabbed in Phuket.

 

Pol Lt-Gen Chaiwat Kateworachai, commissioner of First Region Provincial Police, said the four suspects were a professional car theft gang which usually preys on careless motorists at locations which are sparsely populated or which are not crowded. Their most wanted cars are Toyoto or Isuzu pick-up trucks which are rather new or brand new.

 

Regarding the case on August 24, the gang picked on an Isuzu pickup parked at a gas station beside the Paholyothin road in Nong Khae district of Saraburi after the driver left the car to use a toilet leaving his wife and two children, aged 9 and 4, in the vehicle with the car engine running.

 

One of the gang members then opened the car’s door, pointing a pen-gun at Ms Patcharin sae Tia, taking over the driver’s seat and driving out of the gas station followed by his accomplices, driving in another car.

 

The two cars stopped and men from the other car forced Mrs Patcharin out and threw her two children onto the road. Then the two cars sped away.
