August 29, 20169 yr Attack on Brussels forensic lab ‘probably arson’ BRUSSELS: -- A fire at a top forensic crime lab in Brussels was probably arson aimed at destroying evidence rather than terrorism, investigators have said. Prosecutors say the attackers rammed Belgium’s criminology institute with a car at about 2am local time before setting it ablaze. The fire caused a blast but no casualties. “The Brussels Prosecutor’s office opened an investigation on arson. We are clearly talking about a criminal act. The thesis of terrorism can not be confirmed yet… This location was not chosen randomly,’‘ said spokeswoman Ine Van Wymersch. Five people arrested near the site following the blast have been released without charge. It was initially reported by Belgium media that a bomb had exploded at the lab. The country has been on high alert since March following the attacks on Brussels airport and the city’s metro which killed 32 people. -- © Copyright Euronews 2016-08-30
August 30, 20169 yr No, they are not sure. Didn't you read all of the OP? Quote A fire at a top forensic crime lab in Brussels was probably arson aimed at destroying evidence rather than terrorism, investigators have said......... “The Brussels Prosecutor’s office opened an investigation on arson. (7by7 emphasis) Although considering the site was attacked and set on fire it is probable the aim was to destroy evidence. Whether that evidence was intended for use in identifying and prosecuting terrorists or other criminals we don't know. I guess the police wont know either until they have fully investigated and discovered exactly what evidence has been destroyed. Something which, if done properly, is going to take time.
