webfact Posted August 30, 2016 Posted August 30, 2016 Twelve year old girl on day off from school falls to her death at waterfall Image: Sanook PHETCHABUN: -- A family outing turned to tragedy on Monday when a twelve year old girl fell to her death while taking a selfie at a waterfall in Phetchabun. Pornnipha Mahapho, 12, from Nhon Daeng district had not gone to school because of the heavy rains. Instead a 23 year old relative called Wichaporn Param who was visiting the family from Buriram suggested a fun afternoon out at the Lat Kha aterfall, reported Sanook. But the trip turned to tragedy when the Ban Klan P6 student slipped while taking a selfie and fell seven metres down a cliff. She was taken to Wang Pong Hospital but died from her grievous injuries. Wang Pong police are investigating the incident. Source: Sanook -- © Copyright Thai Visa News 2016-08-30

This, until I read this post that sent a shudder through me like a knife. I wish I never pondered my curiosity it's just so upsetting. God bless her family RIP
Bangkok Barry Posted August 30, 2016 Posted August 30, 2016 And the relative who was supposed to be looking after her? Or did that relative think it was perfectly okay to take a photo in what was a dangerous position, as the result proved? Why is it that Thais have absolutely no concept of safety? Only today I saw a group of six young schoolgirls sitting on the ledge in the back of a pickup, ready to fall off at any moment the driver had to brake suddenly. Which in Thailand is highly probable.
denkiblue555 Posted August 30, 2016 Posted August 30, 2016 So sad, RIP Pornnipha.......we all need to be aware of when not to lose concentration on our surroundings sometimes I guess.
hobobo Posted August 30, 2016 Posted August 30, 2016 So many tragic selfie deaths, so unnecessary! Soon the selfie stick will listed either as a suicide aid, or a dangerous weapon. RIP sweet child...
