webfact Posted September 2, 2016 Posted September 2, 2016 DSD and Thai Traditional Medicine Society join to set up skill training center BANGKOK, 2 September 2016 (NNT) – The Department of Skill Development (DSD) has signed an agreement to work with the Union of Thai Traditional Medicine Society of Thailand to develop masseuses for tourism. Under the agreement, the two organizations will set up a testing center for service industries and decide on courses for traditional Thai medical treatments, spas and beauty services, which will be used to train and measure workers in those fields. It is aimed that the center will spur development and higher standards for such workers and ultimately help the nation’s tourism industry grow further. DSD Director-General Kreeta Sopachoke remarked that the tourism sector has grown continuously and spurred demand for skilled workers, especially masseuses, which are highly needed by hotels and resorts. He stated that enhancement of such workers would ensure confident among both Thai and foreign travelers. The new center is initially aiming to train no less than 10,000 workers. -- nnt 2016-09-02

I wonder if Thais have ever heard of business plans... or is that just one more thing that foreigners think Thais need because they don't understand 'thainess'? It'll be alright on the night...
