Dental advice needed for Jomtien area

I need a recommendation for a dentist in the Jomtien area who hopefully isn't a pathological sadist or a farang bandit haha.

I have a healthy fear of dentists and have managed to avoid any close and uncomfortable encounters with the dental profession for most of my life, with the exception of regular checkups and a few fillings when I was much younger.

I now fear that one of my teeth has died and it's starting to give me a little, but not massive, pain.

I think it needs to come out. I'm pretty sure that it will have to.

I believe that it's my left mandibular second molar, so it's right at the back of my mouth. I don't think that this is one of the teeth that are usually visible, no matter how big a smile you might have.

So, I'm after recommendations for a nearby dentist and some idea of idea of likely cost. Plus, if anyone has had one of these taken out I would be grateful for any information on the procedure and how uncomfortable it's going to be

Many thanks for any advice.

Various points ....

1. There have been many threads and comments about dentists in Pattaya/Jomtien. You should go back a few pages and read them. The search function may be working properly also.

2. From what you describe it sounds more like you need a root canal. If the tooth isnt loose then it can be retained and the pain removed by this procedure. Cost could be anywhere from 3,000B to 20,000B depending on who you see and how the tooth is.

3. If you do end up removing the tooth then a simple extraction should be 500B-1000B, again depending on who does it and how the tooth is. But you should very seriously consider replacing it with an implant or bridge as if you leave a space between two teeth the ones on either side will tend to fall into the space over time. An implant will be from about 40kB upwards. I don't know about bridges as I only have implants.

4. Root canals and implants are best left to a specialist rather than a run-of-the-mill dentist that advertises laser whitening etc. The big trick in all professions in Thailand is finding someone competent.

I was looking 5 years ago for a good dentist here and was told about Dr Warin on Pattaya klang, best dentist in the area IMHO for treatment at a fair price,I recommend him time after time,I trusted him with 140,000 bahts worth of work (1 implant and 12 crowns) other capable dentists quoted nearer 200,000 and the results were first class

I've had treatment recently (I needed two crowns on my molars) at the Jomtien Dental Clinic which was recommended to me by a Canadian friend. No pain after the unpleasant anesthetic injections, and reasonably priced based on comparisons with a dentist opposite TukCom and Thai German dental. They've got several dentists working there so it's a bit pot-luck who you see, I was treated by Dr. Bom and he knows his stuff but he only works late afternoons. That suited me fine as I could continue topping up the anesthetic afterwards in a bar!
