I have a question about 90-day reporting on a non-immigrant O visa (for visiting my Thai child). I travel quite a lot and I have never had to a 90-day report.

I have not been travelling recently and have been living in Thailand with my family, a 90-day report is coming up. Can I do a 90-day report at my local immigration office (Pattaya) or do I have to leave Thailand and come back in?

Looking around on the internet I see confusing information probably because the rules have changed so much over the years.

I have seen posts that say I can do a 90-day report at my local immigration office, I see posts that say I must leave Thailand every 90-days and If I come back in on land I get 30 days and if I come in via an airport I get 90 days. I see posts that say I must leave Thailand for at least 2 days.

Can anyone give me some clear clarity on what I can and cannot do?

Thanks

If you have a Non Imm O Visa you will not have to do a 90 day report as you will never be in the country more than 90 days.

You have to exit the country and return.

If you have a multiple entry non-o visa from a embassy or consulate you only get 90 day entries meaning you have to leave the country every 90 days.

If you have a one year extension of stay you do 90 day reports to immigration.

Just as an example.....suppose you are in Thailand on a ewrirememt extension of a Non O visa....a yearly extension that is based on retirement.

You must do 90 day reporting if you  stay stay onger than 90 days in Thailand in a row.

However, if you can afford it you can leave the country rvery 88th day 0r 89th say and return immediately.

Each time you return your 90 day "countdown" clock will be "reset" and your 90 day count will be restarted.

Therefore for all practical purposes you will neve have to do a 90 day report sincw you will never spend m0re than 90 days in country.

But you muzt be careful to get a multiple exit re-entry permit that will allow you to make these trips every 88 or 89 days and not lose your retirement extension  whrn you re-enter Thailand.

And you must be careful to be back in Thailand in time  to renew your retirement extension each year on time so you don't lose it.

This can be done with a valid retrement or even marriage yearly extension.

It is legal, but it would be expensive to afford all those trips.

But if you had the funds, it cou;d be possible

I am not sugesting you should do  this, I'm just saying it is possible to do it legally.
