had similar issues with receiving sms from a german phone roaming in thailand to my ais, then they all arrived in a block of 8 some 72 hours later.

can your daughter receive your txt?

Can she call you? (You don't have to answer.)

Try +66 8 nnn-nnnn   (substitute the proper number for the 8, if it's 9, or 6

Double- and triple-check the number

Does AT&T allow her to send international SMSes?

Can you call her?

Can you send her an SMS? Can she reply to that SMS?

I receive SMSes from the U.S.

There are a bazillion free messaging apps which you could be using.

Suspect user error.

My daughter and I use google voice.  Just click the red text button on the top right and type your message.  I am in Thailand and she is in the USA.  Or Line or Facebook.  I actually like Facebook the best.

Use Google duo

Google Duo is more of a video chat app; so maybe more than the OP actually needs and a bit more bandwidth intensive?

Google Allo, when it pops, might be more what you're thinking of?

Google Hangouts, which is what Scotwight might be  referring to, is also a simple, cross-platform solution, which allows for messaging, even to/from/within the GSM SMS world.

But obviously there are dozens of messaging options: LINE, WhatsApp!, FB Messeneger, Viber, etc. etc.
