Police object to bail for five Thais accused of killing two Laotian women

The Nation

Kalasin police objected Tuesday to the release on bail of five Thais accused of being involved in the contract killing of two Laotian women last week.

Police said they were a serious risk of fleeing given the heavy penalties involved in the case and fear that the suspects might intimidate witnesses or tamper with evidence.

Police also sent a letter via the Laos Consulate General in Khon Kaen to ask for help from Laotian police in arresting the influential Laotian woman identified only as "Nang" who allegedly hired the Thai gang to kill the victims for some Bt400,000, Kalasin police chief Pol Maj-General Apichit Thianphermpoon said.

Suspects Chalermpong Chaisawai, 32; Okart Tangjaimandeekul, 36; Thongchai Teechandramat, 24; Punnapop Phusil-ataen, 53; and Kulnant Saengsopon, 37, face charges of premeditated murder and disposing of the bodies in a forest in Kuchinarai district to conceal the crime.

Chalermpong, Thongchai and Punnapop confessed to the crime and participated in a re-enactment, but alleged shooter Okart and wife Kulnant maintained their innocence. Both victims were shot in the head.

Another heart warming Thai news story.

3 of them confessed and bail is still even a consideration?

If they get out they will disappear no worry

so no bail? Their fathers must not be police or have any influence.

At least they are objecting, this country is disgraceful in there leniency thats why

every police stn has reams of warrants for prisoners who don"t turn up.
