Phuket to host IRON MAN 70.3 Thailand triathlon

  

PHUKET, 7 September 2016 (NNT) - Phuket province will host the IRON MAN 70.3 Thailand triathlon on November 27, 2016. 

Deputy Phuket provincial governor Khajornkiat Rakphanitmanee said that the island province will cooperate with Muse Group Bangkok Co.,Ltd. to organize the world triathlon, IRON MAN 70.3 Thailand, on Layan beach in Thalang district, on November 27. 

Phuket is one of the world's sporting venues among over 250 cities in more than 80 countries. The competition consists of swimming in a 1.9-kilometer distance, cycling in a 90- kilometers distance and running in a 21.1-kilometers distance. 

The deputy provincial governor called on the public and private sectors and local villagers to jointly welcome the athletes and to create a positive image of Phuket and Thailand.

Not to sure about swimming in thai waters.

Phuket has held a half iron distance race on one weekend and an Olympic distance triathlon on an adjacent weekend several times in the past. Both pro triathletes and age groupers consider them to be well run destination events.
